Workers' Compensation

Our Philosophy
Our employees’ health and safety is extremely important to us at Boulder Valley School District. We want you to work as safely and be as healthy as possible. If you have concerns regarding a safety issue at your work location, please 1) contact your supervisor; 2) contact your department/division/building administrator; 3) contact Human Resources.

Sometimes work-related injuries occur. The Workers’ Compensation process can be very confusing. We’re here to help you navigate the system if you experience a work-related injury, please contact Beth Collins in Human Resources at 720-561-5936, or beth.collins@bvsd.org. We want to help you get the medical treatment you need to recover as quickly as possible!

Our Process

In a serious emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital/trauma center! Follow-up care is to be arranged through Human Resources with one of the district’s designated medical providers:

Hours: M-F 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

If the injury occurs outside of office hours and you need to be seen, you may go to the nearest urgent care facility. Follow-up care is to be arranged through Human Resources with one of the district’s designated medical providers.

If the injury is not a serious emergency, contact Human Resources (Beth Collins at 720-561-5936 or beth.collins@bvsd.org) to make arrangements to see one of the district’s designated medical providers listed below. You are not authorized to see your personal physician and have Workers’ Compensation pay the claim. The Employee Report of Injury/Incident (available on this site and in the Human Resources office) must be filed through Human Resources in order for your bills to be paid through Workers' Compensation.

I will assist you with scheduling your first appointment with a designated physician. You will schedule the remaining appointments. Physician and therapy appointments are to be scheduled outside of work hours whenever possible.

Once I receive information about your injury, I will file a claim for you with CCMSI, the district’s third party claims administrator. You will then receive a packet of information from one of CCMSI’s claims adjusters. The information that you provide will assist them in determining claim coverage. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the adjuster listed or me for clarification or questions.

It is your responsibility to keep your supervisor and Human Resources informed of any time a designated provider takes you off work.  I will work with you regarding salary continuation and temporary modified job duties when the designated physician returns you to work.

Physician and therapy appointments are to be scheduled outside of work hours whenever possible. The designated physician will become the primary care physician of your work-related injury. If you need to see a specialist, orders will be written and care will be coordinated by the designated provider. Once you reach Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI), you will be released from care.

If at any time during the process, you have questions or concerns, please contact me at 720-561-5936 or beth.collins@bvsd.org.

 Safety Corner

Your safety is very important! No one can do your job the way that you do it, and an injury may cause you to miss work or at the least, be unable to do your job the way you are used to doing it. Please take the time you need to perform your job safely.  Please take a moment to check out the safety articles listed below.
