The federal government recently changed the reporting categories for race and ethnicity and all employees are being asked to update their information. Starting with the 2010-11 school year, all districts in Colorado are required to report staff data to the Colorado Department of Education using the new categories. With the new reporting categories, individuals identify themselves by ethnic group (Hispanic/Latino or Not Hispanic/Latino) and by one or more racial groups —American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, White and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander.
Staff will be asked to answer both parts of the two-part question:
-
Part A: Do you consider yourself to be of Hispanic/Latino origin?
-
Yes (Hispanic/Latino)
-
No (Non-Hispanic/Latino)
Part B: Which of the following groups describe your race? (You may select more than one.)
-
American Indian or Alaska Native,
-
Asian,
-
Black or African American,
-
White or
-
Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
