It is recommended that you access MediaCAST through a network cable both at home and at school. Streaming video through wireless is not a reliable method. So, plug it in!

Why the Digital Content Initiative?

With the passage of the 2006 Bond, BVSD is moving toward a 21st century posture in bandwidth, connectivity, and digital content for our schools. Although the transition to high-speed, ubiquitous bandwidth for teaching and learning may not be completed until the last months of 2009, we are commencing efforts to plan for excellence and equity in the selection, deployment, and support of digital content resources for schools, teachers, and students. A growing FAQ link (frequently asked questions) is provided below.

In preparation for this transition, our chief goals will involve:
1. Tapping the expertise of select BVSD staff.
2. Developing a plan to move existing curriculum resources into digital format and a digital environment.
3. Selecting the characteristics of the technical tools that will manage and deliver our digital resources.
4. Evaluating competing digital content sources for appropriateness and fit with BVSD curriculum and teachers.
5. Learning how to teach and foster improved learning with digital content.

DCI Implementation History:

To ensure a reliable, working system, we developed an intentional "phased" rollout plan for the MediaCAST. The timeline below displays schools that were selected considering the following factors: confirmed fiber bandwidth, sufficient existing projectors available, experienced/trained personnel to support/promote MediaCAST. The system was ready district-wide in April 2010.

Training is funded in part by ARRA stimulus funds
