Automotive Collision Repair

 Program Description

This is a one and/or two-year certificate program in which students learn state-of-the-art auto body repair technologies such as detailing, damage repair, paint refinishing, shop management skills and customer service. It is offered all year round in both the A.M. and P.M. sessions. Detailing is available as a separate one semester certificate, and is also available year round in both the A.M. and P.M. sessions.

 Courses Available

V01 Collision Repair 1 (30 credits)
Overview and instruction in the use of air, electric, and hydraulic tools and equipment; paint spray equipment and techniques; parts alignment and replacement; and frame repair, detailing, and shop management. Students learn basic skills and techniques in welding, structural and non-structural repair, plastic and adhesive repairs and prep for refinishing.

V02 Collision Repair 2 (30 credits)
Advanced instruction in the use of air, electric, and hydraulic tools and equipment; paint spray equipment and techniques; parts alignment and replacement; and frame repair. Students learn advanced skills and techniques in welding, structural and non-structural and major-damage repair, plastic repair, and refinishing. Students continue studies and practice in shop management skills, customer service and repair cost estimating, specializing in a specific area of interest. Prerequisite: V01.

V03 Automotive Detailing (15 credits)
This one semester course focuses on the detailing aspects of the automotive paint refinishing process. Students will be required to repair, if necessary, paint finishes, clean all dirt and debris from vehicle interior and engine bay, and polish and buff exterior of vehicle thus completing the customer service component of the course. Transfers and tape methods with decals, etc. are demonstrated. Methods and techniques are specialized to enhance painting skills.

V13 Collision Repair Mechanical (30 credits)
Collision Repair 3 is designed to meet the current industry standards within the Collision Repair field in the area of mechanical replacement. This course will provide an advanced pathway for students who have taken but not limited to Collision Repair Technology or Automotive Detailing to enhance their employability within this technical field. The course offering is year round in the A.M. and P.M. sessions. Prerequisite: V02.

 SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a national career and technical student organization. Students will have the opportunity to participate in leadership skills and technical events related to their technical training and also participate in the Boulder TEC Collision Repair Racing Team Club.
