IntelliPics is a software program that will allow you to run a variety of activities that can meet many different needs. Several activities are included in the program, more can be downloaded from the Intellitools web site, and custom activities can be created to meet specific needs.
Each IntelliPics activity can be paired with an overlay for use with IntelliKeys alternate keyboard. If there is more than one overlay for an activity, you must decide which best meets the needs of your student.
To Use:
- Open IntelliPics application by double clicking on the IntelliPics icon.
- Select and open an activity. To do this, choose “open” from the “file” menu. Activities that come with the program are listed in the “start up” and “other activities” folders.
- Activities can be operated with the mouse, IntelliKeys alternate keyboard, or switches.
To customize an activity:
- “Activity Preferences” allow you to customize the screen regarding color, numbers, modifiers (movements), or size
- Activity Icon – changes the picture associated with the activity. It can be easier for children to choose activities based on pictures
- Menu Protection on – allows teacher to control access to other functions
- To turn on: Highlight under options
- To turn off: hold Shift key down while clicking on menu bar
Using with IntelliKeys:
- Choose matching overlay and place it on the IntelliKeys (choose overlay to match activity and level)
- Select “Send overlay” under “File”
- Watch for the message bar in the middle of page for verification that overlay has been sent
To change picture size for easier mouse access:
- Options>Activity Preferences>Picture Items
- Change size of pictures under Palette Size as needed.
- Use mouse to access pictures in column or left of screen
Quizzes:
- “Play”>”Play Quiz” (some activities don’t have quizzes)
- Choose quiz from list
- To stop, choose “Stop” under “Play”
