Leyla -
After discussion with our architect, Scott Rodwin, the rendering is taken directly from the Revit model and is accurate. The trees reflect the landscape plan fairly closely and the rendering assumes that they are about 7-10 years old to show how they will fill out. The purpose of this rendering is to give an idea of what the completed building will look like in terms of placement on the site and potential impact to views. It is not intended to depict each tree which will be planted or removed. The design team believes this to be a reasonably accurate depiction. 3D models are created like photography - they can have a telephoto or fisheye quality depending on the width of the subject area you are showing, and the distance to the object. Keep in mind we are still at a design development stage. Further minor modifications to the design are possible.

Thanks Tom,
We appreciate all the information. As for the rendering that you sent, it does NOT appear to be to scale with the landscape. I would guess that it is about 50-60%. If you compare the aerial site plan with the photo/CADD depiction you will see that on the site plan the north wing of the building spans from the existing tree nearest our fence all the way to the existing path to the north. On the photo the building only spans to the front of our car. Likewise, to the south, according to the site plan, the building would span off the page, whereas on the photo, one sees asphalt playing area and apple orchard.
Some other inaccuracies that I feel should be corrected in order to represent what things will actually look like:
Trees: There is a large tree in the photo coming off the north side of the building that is double the size of the building. It does not exist. Likewise, the southern edge of the photo shows an apple orchard. That doesn't exist either and I doubt, given that Don Orr stated that the budget doesn't allow for new furniture, that it allows for an apple orchard. The existing lone apple tree marking the entrance off the eastern edge of the property is not slated for demo but it is not where it should be. The tree closest to our property that is scheduled for demo has been replaced with another tree. Could Scott please show all drawings in photos with only trees that are not scheduled for demo and show accurate size and shape for ones that are in the budget for planting.
Utility pole and fence: The existing utility pole and fence on the western edge of our property are not in the photo. Are those scheduled for demo?
Road angle: The road seems to curve in a different angle (more south west) than in currently does. Is BVSD planning on altering the city road and
sidewalk?
I think all the other photos have similar scale issues and need to be compared to the site plan for accuracy. And, on all photos, we would like to see an accurate representation of all budgeted and existing trees for the site.
BTW, I am now wearing my DAT hat. I just spend the evening with a group of neighbors comparing all the various plans and photos (with what we currently see on the site) and am making the above requests on behalf of the neighborhood.
Thanks for all your help and your prompt response. I'm happy to come in and sit down with Scott Rodwin to go over some of the inaccuracies in person, if that would be helpful.
Best,
Leyla

1) Attached is the CADD depiction of the building accurately scaled to a photo taken from 22nd street. This has been posted on the Columbine website
2) IT has worked on the website to eliminate the password prompt. Hopefully this now works.
3) Per the survey information: the face of the stair tower is 58’-8” from the district property line and the larger face of the Academic Wing is 68’-8” from the district property line. It should be noted that throughout the design process the building has been as close as 40 feet and as far as 80 feet. These are the numbers that had been given to the DAT – Never has 100 feet been an option and for much of SD the building sat 60 feet away from the property line.
4) As the drawings are Design Development, we will investigate if removing trees and sidewalks that you mention is necessary. Like you, we wish to retain as many trees as possible.
5) Construction fencing will be placed on the inside of the existing fence with considerations being given to pedestrian and school paths around the building and to the park. This will be finalized in the spring and will be publicized to the school and the neighborhood.
Thank you for your comments.

Thanks Tom,
All the drawings have either pdf or jpeg format. The problem isn't the format, it is the page that holds the links to them and the password box that pops up.
My husband and I would also like an explanation of why the trees closest to our house are being demoed. Also why is the concrete sidewalk path nearest our house being demoed. During the DAT meetings I have heard various numbers thrown out (from 60' to 100') as to how far the school is going to be from our property line. I am now asking, as an abutting property owner, exactly how far is the new building going to be from our property line and where is the construction fence going to be erected.
Thank you,
Leyla Steele
