Subject: My opinion - homeowner next to Columbine
I have lived at 2310 Glenwood Drive since 1995 and both of my children attended Columbine Elementary. I am 100% opposed to the building of a "new" Columbine in the space that is currently used as a playing field. One of my best loved and anticipated memories is of walking my dogs and coming to the corner by the City of Boulder's park and the sidewalk that approaches the gym of Columbine and having the amazing view of the flatirons there. By building in the middle of the field you will be ruining that entire area. The fields are always in use after school hours and especially on Saturday's with all the YMCA soccer. The neighbors of Columbine use them frequently - we watch the fireworks on 4th of July from there, we play there etc. By building the school in the field, you will also lower the value of our houses.
My suggestion is to bus the kids to another school, ala Casey students to Platt for the time the school is rebuilt.
Should this come to a vote, I will, along with my two voting age children, vote against the building as you have currently planned/under discussion.
Sincerely,
Sara
