CAPPA
What is CAPPA?
CAPPA is a group of parent volunteers from Centaurus and Monarch who plan and run the After Prom with the financial and volunteer support of parents, community members, and local businesses and governments. While the schools assist CAPPA in advertising this event to students, we do not receive financial support from either high school as the After Prom is NOT a school event and is a separate activity from the Monarch and Centaurus proms.
After Prom offers the students in our communities a safe and fun place to go after their school prom. We are so grateful and proud that since 1991 when this event was begun, we have not had any fatal accidents, serious injuries or other unsafe activities take place on prom night.
The Community After Prom is an event open to senior and Junior students from Monarch and Centaurus High Schools whether or not they attend their school prom. Each is allowed to bring 1 guest (date). Keep in mind, however, this event is for juniors and seniors and the capacity is limited. More than 900 students from Lafayette, Louisville, Superior and Erie Colorado attended the 2007 After Prom at Centaurus High School.
The cost of providing this event for our children has been steadily climbing, but thanks to the generosity of local businesses, city governments and parent donations, we have continued to provide this fun-filled event for a small admission fee of $5 per student.
The 2008 After Prom will be held on Saturday, April 5 from 12:00 to 5:00 am. (Volunteer hours posted on Volunteer page.)
