Ways in which BVSD serves the greater community include making school facilities available for community activities and offering learning opportunities to people of all ages.

Many of these services are coordinated through BVSD's Community Schools, a self-supporting organization that uses tuition- and facility-use fees to cover its operational expenses. Community Schools operates four programs: 

• Lifelong Learning
• Kindergarten Care (K-CARE)
• BVSD Facility Use
• School Age Care Program
