The Vision of National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is that every student has great teachers and every school has great leaders.
 
Mission
The Mission of NBPTS is to advance student learning and achievement by establishing the definitive standards and systems for certifying accomplished educators, providing programs and advocating policies that support excellence in teaching and leading, and engaging National Board certified teachers and leaders in that process.
 
Since 1987, more than 97,000 teachers have achieved National Board Certification. These teachers prepare America’s diverse student population with the skills it needs to compete in the 21st century workplace.
