The K-2 Assessment Grant is a CDE Closing the Achievement Gap grant. The work being done is to create a diagnostic and formative assessment system for grade K-2 mathematics available on the web. Each assessment has a rubric and corresponding exemplars with direct connection to the Curriculum Essentials Document
Lead teachers from each school participated in week long workshop to strengthen content knowledge and write tasks for each performance indicator in the Curriculum Essential Documents. Tasks were piloted by teachers and then tasks and rubrics were edited and when appropriate anchor papers collected.
Trainings have started for all K-2 teachers to use the system. The current expectation is for all k-2 teachers to try the system at least three times.
Teachers are paid from the grant for all meetings at curriculum rate.
