Welcome to Mesa Elementary School! We invite you to visit Mesa and learn more about our school.

Mesa has a strong academic focus. We have earned the John J. Irwin Colorado Schools of Excellence Award based on Mesa students’ outstanding academic achievement. Annually, Mesa is designated as an excellent school by the State Department of Education. Mesa has also been a recipient of the Colorado Alliance for Arts “Creative Ticket – School of Excellence" Award.

Mesa’s CSAP or Colorado Standards Assessment Program scores are among the highest in the state. Our students also excel in a variety of co-curricular academic activities such as Destination Imagination, Junior Great Books, Chess Group and Math Olympiads. Additionally, Mesa’s PTO sponsors extra opportunities for all students in math and technology.

The fabulous parent community values education of the whole child, and the arts and athletics are important components of our educational program. Mesa is one of only a few elementary schools in the United States to receive the National Schools of Distinction Award from the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes schools that have done an “outstanding job of making arts an essential part of the education of their students.”

In addition to their remarkable achievement in class activities, Mesa students demonstrate their achievement in the arts through participation in our annual K-5 Art Show; K-4 grade performances; and the M&M’s (our fourth and fifth grade choir) production of musicals such as Jungle Book, Annie, The Music Man, and Suessical. In athletics, running the Bolder Boulder with Fitness Club is a remarkable success each year.

The critical attribute that distinguishes Mesa from other schools is our strong sense of community. As you visit our school, note the number of parent volunteers. Watch how they interact with teachers. Look at the smiles and hear the laughter. Notice the tangible affection between adults and children and among the children themselves. You are seeing people who feel like family; children and adults are valued and loved at Mesa.

We welcome you to join our community.
