Goals 2013-18 (final draft as of 5/28)

GOAL # 1 - Boulder Valley School District will ensure that each student meets or exceeds developmentally and age appropriate expectations relative to intellectual growth, physical development and social emotional well-being.
  • All students will graduate from high school prepared for employment and postsecondary educational success.
  • All students will reach or exceed expected levels of proficiency annually in literacy and mathematics.
  • All students will reach or exceed age-normed levels of social, emotional and physical development as measured at least once at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
GOAL #2 – Boulder Valley School District will partner with students, families, staff, and community members to address the unique learning needs of each student and to create meaningful and engaging opportunities for each child.

GOAL #3 - Boulder Valley School District will ensure that students, families, staff, and
community members experience a safe and inclusive environment.

The following strategies will be used to attain these goals:
  1. Boulder Valley School District will assess the success of each child as well as the overall effectiveness of the school system using multiple measures.
  2. Boulder Valley School District will partner with parents and the larger community to help all students enter school ready to learn and continue to learn throughout their educational experience.
  3. Boulder Valley School District will attract, hire and retain outstanding professionals at all levels of the organization.
  4. Boulder Valley School District will provide high quality professional development.
  5. Boulder Valley School District will increase community involvement, corporate partnerships, volunteer involvement, and legislative advocacy.

Following are the most recent "redlined" versions of each showing where staff sought to revise both documents to incorporate the school board's most recent comments from a public discussion during the May 14, 2013 school board meeting:
Vision and Mission Statement (with changes tracked)
Draft Interim Goals 2013-18 (with changes tracked)
Once the school board and superintendent are satisfied that they have discussed and collaborated these drafts to the point of achieving the consensus that they have worked six months to establish, they will consider, for final approval at a future board meeting, the district's new mission, vision, and goals.

The school board has clearly directed that while they will ultimately set the vision, mission, and specific goals for the future, they will expect staff to prepare plans for each school year to achieve measurable and accountable results in the pursuit of the district's new long-term goals. These plans, which will begin to be developed this summer as soon as the school board takes final action, will be publicly shared with the board and community as they are developed and finalized.
