  • 2nd dose Varicella (chickenpox) for kindergartners  through 2nd grade
    • Chickenpox spreads easily.  Serious complications can arise from natural disease.   Vaccination helps prevent spread and complications.
    • For proof of natural disease, laboratory testing showing immunity or documentation of disease from a health care provider is acceptable.

  • Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) for 6th through 8th and 10th through 12th graders.  Only 9th graders are not required to have this.
    • Pertussis  (whooping cough) is problematic in CO (5th in US).  Early childhood vaccine loses effectiveness over time.  The disease can be very serious.

If parents do not wish their child to have the vaccines for personal or religious reasons, a waiver can be signed by parents.  A physician may sign a medical exemption.
