First Aid/CPR Class Information 
 
SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS

School District policy requires that certain groups of employees and volunteers obtain and maintain Red Cross certification in order to safely attend to injured students and staff. The following information outlines the content and schedule of classes offered by Health Services. Note: Transportation and Community Schools have made provisions for training their own staff members in First Aid and CPR. (See ** below)

WHO NEEDS WHAT?

CATEGORY FIRST AID CPR
Elementary
a. Full time office staff : at least 1 for schools up to 450 students; at least 2 people for schools> 450 students x If ERT Member
b. All PE teachers x x
c. All Gold Hill and Jamestown teachers x x
Secondary
a. Full time office staff : at least two per building x If ERT Member
b. All industrial arts/ applied technology teachers x x
c. All PE teachers x x
d. All Vocational teachers in: auto body, auto mechanics, building trades, electronics, machine trades, welding, HVAC, and graphic arts/printing x x
e. Head coaches for all interscholastic sports x x
General
a. All Emergency Response Team members x x
b. All Health Room volunteers x  
c. All Health Room paraprofessionals x If ERT Member
d. All Bus Drivers x x
e. All Kindergarten Enrichment staff in accord w/ state mandate. Check with supervisor.** x x
  • Any paid staff listed above may receive a stipend for the initial course and necessary re-certifications, if the classes occur outside of normal working hours.

  • Anyone who wishes to become certified (but is not required to do so by District policy) may register for classes on a space-available basis. A $10.00 fee will be charged to cover supplies and processing the card.

  • Infant CPR is not included. Anyone who wants Infant CPR can call 720-561-5544 to request a class.
