“IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE AN EAGLE” is a theme heard throughout our school and our community. Broomfield High School continues to succeed in all areas of school life and our students take pride in their school. From academics, to music, to theatre, to athletics, the Broomfield Eagles are continually recognized for their achievements at district, league and state competitions. This past year, our Wrestling team won their first team state championship in school history while our Girls Basketball team won their third consecutive team state championship. Without the dedication of our students and the support of our parents and community, these accomplishments would not be possible. I am thankful for the great opportunities that have been given to me to serve the all students at Broomfield High School and am especially proud of the accomplishments of the Class of 2009.
In the fall of 2006, the community of Broomfield along with the rest of BVSD supported our schools in passing a $296.8 million bond package. Broomfield High School was allocated $20.7 million to make major renovations to our site. In June 2008, construction began with the demolition of our North Wing. The new wing was completed late May 2009 and staff began moving into their new rooms prior to leaving for the summer. The summer of 2009 focused on continuing renovations inside the rest of the building with areas being remodeled, air-conditioned, and painted. All bathrooms in the building received much need facelifts. I welcome all to come to our Grand Opening at Broomfield Days on September 19, 2009 and help us celebrate our new facility and our 50th year of service.
Academic excellence and co-curricular involvement are expected. Teachers set high goals for our students and support them in reaching these goals. Students are encouraged to participate in many activities and not to limit themselves to one facet of school life. While we enjoy celebrating athletic successes with new trophies and banners, I continue to challenge our students to value equal recognition for academic excellence. I am constantly encouraged by the commitment of teachers, parents, and community to create the best environment for all students to feel welcomed and be encouraged to meet their academic goals.
The support of parents and community members has helped us create a setting where issues can be raised and solutions jointly created. We welcome new families and staff to join our Broomfield family as we continue to make improvements. The people inside the building have created a positive environment for all who attend each day. “WE ARE BROOMFIELD” is another cherished chant heard at many events. We are a community school and function as a Broomfield family. The academic successes of our students are positive reflections of our community’s focus.
