Parents, community members and businesses who want to get involved with their schools are encouraged to get in touch with the administrative office of the school they are interested in. Business partners can choose to work with schools on site-specific projects.
In addition to helping in the classroom, parents and community volunteers serve on a number of education-related school committees. Notably, School Improvement Teams (SIT) and Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO) are selected through the schools.

Most of the district-level committees recruit parent and community volunteers through the schools. For example, schools are asked to select a parent/community volunteer as their representative to the District Accountability Committee. Some district-level committees are created with nominations from the Board of Education. The District Facilities Committee is an example of a Board-appointed volunteer committee. A newly-revised volunteer handbook has been created by the Title I office to define roles and responsibilities of volunteers in Title schools.
