Below are some of the most common questions asked by BVSD employees.

Answer
I do not remember my password for voice mail or my mailbox is locked.  How can I reset it?
You may request your voice mail password to be reset by submitting a service request at http://bvsd.org/servicerequest.  Please include your extension in your request. Once we have reset the password, you will receive an e-mail with a new, temporary password. You will be required to change that password upon first log in.

All other phone information, including reference guides, is located at our phone website, www.bvsd.org/phones.
I am a current BVSD employee and do not remember my network and email password.
Please navigate to https://pm.bvsd.org and reset your password. If this does not work, please submit a service request at http://bvsd.org/servicerequest

I am trying to access an educational website for my students, however I receive notification that it is blocked.  How do I unblock the site?
Detailed instructions for how to unblock a website as a staff member are located at http://bvsd.org/kb/Internet/WebFilteringInstructions.pdf.  If you require a site to be unblocked for your students as well, please send a request to the IT Support Center at http://bvsd.org/servicerequest.  Please be sure to include your full name and the sites/URLs you are requesting be unblocked.  Please note that unblocking a site for your class unblocks the site for the entire district.

My Grade book is not calculating grades correctly.
Here are some items to check:

In the Lesson Planner, click on the Term (#) Final and make sure a Grading Curve is selected.  Is there more than one box checked?  You may only want to check one: Weighting on Groups or Use each score's percent.  Repeat for every course section you teach.

If using Weighting on Groups, make sure that the percentages assigned to the groups equal 100%.  Also, make sure that each of the groups contain at least 1 assignment and scores are entered.

For more information, check the KnowledgeBase document, How to Set the Grading Options - how will grades/scores be calculated at http://bvsd.org/kb/Infinite Campus  Teacher/1013_HT_IC_LP_How to Set the Grading Options.pdf

My student(s) cannot log on.  What should I do?
Student passwords can be reset by navigating to http://bvsd.org/studentpasswordreset or by submitting a service request at http://bvsd.org/servicerequest
How do I request additional rights for Infinite Campus?
All additional rights to Infinite Campus (such as adding a tab, etc.) must be requested and authorized by your school principal. He or she maysubmit an IT service request to http://bvsd.org/servicerequest. We will respond back to his/her request when the rights have been added. You will need to log out of Infinite Campus and log back in before you will be able to see your new rights.
We have a parent who cannot log into the parent portal or they have never logged in before.  How do we get their account fixed or get them an IC Portal Account?
If they have forgotten their username and/or password, they need to contact their student’s school.  All schools have internal staff that have the ability to reset both student and parent portal passwords.

If they need an Activation Key, the school office can give them a Parent Portal Activation Letter.  The Activation key is the  GUID number found on the demographic page of the parent in Infinite Campus.

If you need to have Parent Portal letters printed for all your students, please submit an IT service request to http://bvsd.org/servicerequest and we will print them for you.
How can I check how much mailbox space is used in my email?
Outlook Web Access - You can check to see how much mailbox space is used.  Hover your mouse over your name and a dialog box will pop up givinig you this information.  Example: 45.44 MB of mailbox space used.  At 95 MB you will not be able to send mail.

Outlook Client (installed on your computer) - Right click on your mailbox name.  Select "Properties for [your name]."  In the properties window, click on the button at the bottom "Folder Size..."  This will give you the total size of your mailbox, plus the size of each sub folder in your mailbox.  This can help you in cleaning up your mailbox size.
I am having trouble with my teacher website. Who do I contact?
Your school webmaster can help you with your SharePoint website. A list of designated school webmasters and their contact information is located at http://bvsd.org/webmasters/Pages/Sitestatuslist.aspx.
I keep receiving spam e-mails on my BVSD e-mail account.  What should I do with these e-mails?
IT's e-mail filter typically catches most spam coming into the District, however due to e-mail spoofing and the movement of spammers, you may still receive some spam messages.  If you receive a spam e-mail on your BVSD e-mail account please do not open or forward the e-mail.  You may add the recipient to your blocked senders list in Outlook or simply delete the message.

To add a sender to the Blocked Senders list in Outlook:
Right-click on the spam e-mail, scroll down to Junk E-mail and select "Add to Blocked Sender's List".  This will block any email from the incoming addresses and move them to the Junk e-mail folder.
