Deirdre Pilch, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership, oversees the middle and high schools in BVSD. She also supports secondary charter schools and contract schools. She began her career as a Language Arts teacher and has since fulfilled the roles of High School Assistant Principal, Middle School Principal, High School Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction K-12, and Adjunct Professor. She joined BVSD in 2003 as the principal of Centaurus High School and has been in her current role since 2007. Deirdre serves on many local committees, including sitting on the board of directors for the I have a Dream Foundation and the Boulder County Prevention and Intervention Program. She serves on a number of District committees as well as acting as Co-coordinator of the District AVID program and Coordinator of the Curriculum Advisory Board. Deirdre provides leadership for the Secondary Pre-Engineering program, Standards Based Grading 6-12, Secondary International Baccalaureate, the District Improvement Plan & Implementation, Secondary Curriculum Development, Middle & High School Summer Transition Programs, and the Post Secondary Education Options (PSEO) Program. Her most recent projects have been focused on dropout prevention, intervention and retrieval. Her work with the new online learning program and online school (Boulder Universal) has contributed to the success of her dropout reduction efforts.
