Manhattan School of Arts and Academics

 About Our School

Points of Pride
  • Our focus is on preparing students to be compassionate, productive members of a global society.
  • In 2007, we met AYP in all areas assessed.
  • We are an arts focus school.
  • We were the first school in the Front Range to offer "No Place for Hate" in collaboration with the Anti-Defamation League.

Academic Goals
Our Academic goals are (1) to be the highest performing middle school in our district, (2) to close the achievement gap, and (3) to ensure that all student populations are equally represented in all school activities.

School Profile
Manhattan Middle School of Arts and Academics provides an inclusive, safe, and dynamic learning environment for students from both the neighborhood and the entire district. Our challenging academic program is supported not only by an infusion of the arts, but also an integrated curriculum, exploratory classes, small reading and writing classes, and accelerated math classes. In the arts, students choose from theater, visual arts, band, orchestra and choir. During the school day, students have the opportunity to participate in a two period block of an arts focus each day. Outside the school day, opportunities for student participation include jazz band, choir, theater productions, middle level athletics, daily homework help, Science Club, and Bolder Boulder Training.

Our school climate is enhanced by our 360 transition program, our weekly tutor/workshop time, a participatory, school spirit activities, and multiple charitable endeavors. Manhattan also provides a south-central Boulder English as a Second Language (ESL) Program. Students come to Manhattan from all over the world, giving the school somewhat of an international flavor. We also house an Intensive Learning Center.
