Boulder High School's National Merit Semifinalists

National Merit Semifinalists Named for the 2010 Merit Scholarship Competition

Boulder High School is pleased to announce the names of our seven Semifinalists. More than one million juniors in the nation took the qualifying exam, PSAT, in the fall of their junior year. Only 16,000 were selected to become semi-finalists of which 15,000 will become National Merit Finalists. All National Merit Finalists have an opportunity to be awarded a scholarship of $2,500, and depending upon the sponsoring corporation, Finalists may receive up to a full scholarship. Additionally, many colleges and universities actively recruit Finalists for their schools by offering them additional scholarships. The students and the school will be notified by mid-February of their selection as a National Merit Finalist.

The names of this year’s Semifinalists at Boulder High School are:

William Baumgartner
Nicolas Earl
Samuel Golon
Lee Karpel
Alison Lewis
Katherine Macdonnell
Benjamin Raderstorf

In addition 14 Boulder High students have been named Commended Students. They include:

Jordan Cahn
Katherine Fuller
Benjamin Fuqua
Matthew Green
Brad Hendershott
Emerald Herzog
Joshua Karpel
Matthew Kurek
Adam Lerner
Alexandra Morphew
Maria Murillo
Emily Prosch
Radhika Rawat
Madeline Szkobel-Wolff

Based on their PAST scores last October, these students are among approximately 34,000 Commended students throughout the nation. Although they will not continue in the 2010 competition for National Merit Scholarships, they are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

Congratulations to all!
