Broomfield High School Students Excel on 2009 Advanced Placement Exams

BROOMFIELD – Congratulations to the 2009 Broomfield High School AP Scholars! The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on these exams.

One Broomfield High student qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. This student is Kenneth Lynch.

Devin Callahan, Morgan Gianola, Rebecca Havens, Kenneth Lynch, Benjamin Maddock, Maria Masterson, Michael McShane, Todd Sumerfield, Chloe Sween, Hayley Tuitman, and Jessica Wilkerson achieved the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

The following students received the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams: Ian Donaldson, David Durney, Wendy Guardado, Joni Hayward, Kelvin Jensen, Benjamin Kaslon, Meghan Lynch, Lynette Naler, and Laura Touysinhthiphonexay.

The AP Scholar Award—achieved by completing three or more exams with grades of 3 or higher—has been given to Michael Aderman, Amy Brandenburg, Katelyn Brown, Kathryn Buchtel, Emily Costello, Benjamin Elliott, Melanie Ferraro, Corrie Frank, Zachary Garcia, Taylor Grenis, Trent Jarvis, Michelle Jonsen, Zachary Lane, Kent McCrimmon, Meghan Moroze, Neil Patel, Savannah Schilling, Chaundra Sewell, Sara Stup, Jessica Tappy, Margaret Vogt, Vivian Vu, Douglas Walton, and Brian Welch.

Of this year’s award recipients, several were juniors and still have this academic year to possibly earn another AP Scholar Award. Broomfield High is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of these students.
