National Merit Semifinalists Named for the 2010 Merit Scholarship Competition
Fairview High School is pleased to announce the names of our 16 Semifinalists. More than one million juniors in the nation took the qualifying exam, PSAT, in the fall of their junior year. Only 16,000 were selected to become semi-finalists of which 15,000 will become National Merit Finalists. All National Merit Finalists have an opportunity to be awarded a scholarship of $2,500, and depending upon the sponsoring corporation, Finalists may receive up to a full scholarship. Additionally, many colleges and universities actively recruit Finalists for their schools by offering them additional scholarships. The students and the school will be notified by mid-February of their selection as a National Merit Finalist.
