National Merit Semifinalist Named for the 2010 Merit Scholarship Competition

Nederland Middle-High School is pleased to announce that Forrest Pieper is a National Merit Semifinalist.

More than one million juniors in the nation took the qualifying exam, PSAT, in the fall of their junior year. Only 16,000 were selected to become semi-finalists of which 15,000 will become National Merit Finalists. All National Merit Finalists have an opportunity to be awarded a scholarship of $2,500, and depending upon the sponsoring corporation, Finalists may receive up to a full scholarship. Additionally, many colleges and universities actively recruit Finalists for their schools by offering them additional scholarships. The students and the school will be notified by mid-February of their selection as a National Merit Finalist.
