BOULDER: EMC Engineers will host an information meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 9, to discuss the geothermal system that is being installed at Casey Middle School. The system engineer will give a tour of the infrastructure that has been constructed to date and will present information about the system design and the cost analysis. The event is open to the public. Attendees are asked to meet at the construction trailer in the upper parking lot at 14th and High streets. There is no on-site parking available.
Geothermal systems use the constant temperature of the earth to help reduce the energy required for heating and cooling buildings. The system at Casey Middle School is one component of the $31.1 million building project that is seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark established by the U.S. Green Building Council for the design, construction and operation of high performance, green buildings. The project is part of the $296.8 million Boulder Valley School District Bond Program.
