BOULDER – The Board of Education of Boulder Valley School District No. RE-2 in Boulder, Broomfield and Gilpin counties today formally issued its call for nominations of candidates for school directors to be placed on the ballot for the regular biennial school election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

At this election three of BVSD’s seven directors will be elected representing the following director districts: B, E and F for four-year terms. To be qualified, a candidate must have been a registered elector and a resident of the school district for a least twelve consecutive months before the election and a resident of the director district that will be represented. A person is ineligible to run for school director if he or she has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child.

A person who desires to be a candidate for the office of School Director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate, a nomination petition signed by at least fifty eligible electors along with circulator’s affidavits, a notarized acceptance of nomination, and an affidavit of school director candidate on qualifications for office.

While a candidate is required to be a qualified elector and resident of the director district that she or he seeks to represent, all registered voters in BVSD are eligible to vote in all district director races.

Nomination petitions may be obtained at the Superintendent’s office at the Education Center, 6500 E. Arapahoe Road, in Boulder. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Completed petitions shall be submitted to Sandra Eicher, the School District’s designated election official, no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 28, 2009.
