Classes are half-day and follow BVSD’s school-year calendar. Highly trained teachers help children develop in four critical areas:
- Social and emotional learning
- Physical development and motor skills
- Cognitive development
Language and literacy development
..all in a fun, active classroom setting at a nearby elementary school or community site!
Children may attend BVSD preschool based on eligibility for funding from:
The Colorado Preschool Program (CPP):
CPP is a state-funded preschool program that provides 4 half-day sessions per week to eligible children in the community. Children must be 4 years of age by October 1st of the year they are entering preschool and will be enrolling into kindergarten the following year. (Some three year old children may also qualify for services.) In addition, children must be determined to have risk factors that impact success in school or that may lead to educational failure. This is a free program for eligible families. Families complete an application to enroll. Click a link below to download a CPP application or call 720.561.5075.
Special Education:
BVSD is responsible for providing special education services to preschool age children who have been identified as having a disability that interferes with learning. Children may be referred to a screening by a parent, doctor or another agency. Information gathered during the screening process assists to determine if further assessment is needed. The assessment process serves to determine if special educational services are appropriate.
Services may include:
• Speech / language therapy
• Specialized services to support visually or hearing impaired children
• Occupational / physical therapy
• Early childhood educational intervention
• Health supports for children with specific medical needs
• Behavioral support
To find out more about services for children with special needs, call the Child Find office at 720-561-5078 or visit their website by clicking here.
Tuition:
Each BVSD preschool also has slots reserved for children whose families pay tuition. Tuition is $355 per month for 4 half days a week, Tuesday through Friday. Tuition students are accepted through a lottery. For the academic year 2010/11 lottery applications will be accepted in the Preschool Office from November 30, 2009 through January 15, 2010.
