School Activities

We are fortunate to be an FRS (Family Resource Schools) site. FRS coordinates our many academic and non-academic afterschool offerings. Check out the FRS page or this link for example classes.

Musicals

Each grade performs a musical and art show related to a content area they are studying.

Outdoor Education

As part of the BVSD curriculum, our 5th graders go to Calwood Outdoor Education Center for 2 nights and 3 days.

PBS - Positive Behavior Support

We use PBS to ensure a safe, respectful and responsible school environment. PBS uses explicit teaching methods to positvely affect school climate.

Instrumental Music

5th graders districtwide participate in an instrumental music program. Instruments are provided for students at Columbine.

Bien Educados

Bien Educados means "well educated" in Spanish. At Columbine being well educated means being a good student AND a good member of our community. Our monthly Bien Educados awards recognize students who demonstrate superior citizenship.

Kids Hope

KHUSA (Kids Hope USA) is a nationwide program that pairs mentors with students. Mentors meet weekly with students to connect, have fun and do homework

TODOS

TODOS stands for Together Our Differences Offer Solutions. It is our parent involvement group and meets to have fun, learn something and integrate our school.

Community Events

Preschool Story Hour

We have opened our library to the public and offer story hour for preschoolers and their families. Click on this link for the schedule.

Mile Marathon

Our capstone community event, The Mile Marathon is a one mile race around the school perimeter commplete with a band, snacks and elite guest runners.

Lights of December Parade

In 2008 Columbine entered a float in the annual Lights of December parade. Many of our students sat on or walked with our float. We hope to continue the tradition.
