Jeanette Scotti
Jeanette Scotti grew up outside of Seattle, Washington. She attended Oregon State University, home of the Fighting Beavers, where she received a degree in Business with an emphasis in Management Information Systems in 1996. Throughout her undergrad years she also played on the OSU women’s soccer team. After a stint in the business world, she returned to OSU in the summer of 1999 to obtain a Masters Degree in Teaching. During her masters program she also completed her English as a Second Language endorsement. Jeanette taught for one year in Portland, OR then decided it was time to venture away from the Northwest. She has now been at Columbine Elementary since 2002 and has found Columbine to be the perfect fit. Jeanette admires her principal and staff for the hard work they consistently put forth. She loves teaching all of her students and has learned some of her best life lessons from them. She feels fortunate that she has a strong team of colleagues to work with everyday. A few of Jeanette’s passions include eating, laughing, playing soccer, running or some sort of exercise that is fun, reading, traveling and hanging with Millar, Miles and Blue. She is an avid fan of any Oregon State Athletic team or former athlete – like Chad Johnson, Steven Jackson and Brent Barry.
Courtney Ferguson
Courtney Ferguson grew up in Pittsburgh, PA (home of the 5 time Super Bowl champion Steelers) and then ventured south to Virginia, where she attended George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. There she completed her BA in Anthropology and her MA in Elementary Education. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Chicago for a year and after surviving a frigid, gray winter, moved on to sunny, warm Boulder, Colorado. Courtney has been teaching in BVSD for nine years and has taught at five different elementary schools (in BVSD), including Columbine. During this time, she taught ESL literacy and completed her ESL endorsement through the University of Colorado. In 2001-2002, Courtney left Columbine for a full year at which time she realized how much she missed the students, staff, programs, and most importantly the principal, Lynn Widger, there and she was then able to return the following year bringing her total years at Columbine up to seven. Outside of teaching, Courtney is enjoying the new challenges of motherhood with her ADORABLE son, Milo. She also enjoys running, playing soccer, reading, hiking, biking, and watching CSI: Las Vegas.
Norm Traum
I grew up in New York City and I have lived in Boulder since 1990. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder. For fourteen years I taught preschool at Boulder County Head Start and the Boulder Jewish Community Center Preschool. During the 2003-2004 school year I was the Lead Teacher/Director of the Columbine Preschool after which I worked as a Native Language Tutor and Special Education Paraprofessional while earning my teaching certificate at Regis University (which I earned in December 2008!). I live with my wife, Deirdre, our four children Duncan, Josh, Jacob and Maegan. In all of my spare time I play my guitar and sing.
