Eisenhower Programs & Events

Eisenhower offers a variety of enrichment programs and extra curricular activities and events for students and parents alike. Browse through this list - there's something for everyone offered at our school!

Programs

TAG (Talented and Gifted): In class and in-school opportunities for TAG-identified students, PLUS a variety of after school enrichment activities.

Bits, Bytes, Bots: A program offered through Eisenhower where students get a chance to build and command robots while generating basic computer programming commands.  See the office for a flyer today! see: http://www.bitsbytesbots.com/ for more information!


Caring Community: A schoolwide program and common language to teach peacemaking skills and personal responsibility.

Chess: Chess classes are offered after school through the Boulder Chess Academy. Eisenhower participates in the Boulder Valley Chess League.

English as a Second Language: Eisenhower is fortunate to be an ESL "satellite" school. Students whose neighborhood school does not offer ESL instruction may attend the nearest "satellite" school if they qualify for ESL services.

Geography Bee: Students in grades 4 and 5 participate in the classroom rounds of the National Geographic Geography Bee

Instrumental Music: Fifth grade students work with strings, brass and woodwinds twice each week during the school day. Instrument rental is available. Concerts are performed for parents in the Fall and in the Spring.

K-Care: This tuition-based, Community Schools program offers half-day care for students in our kindergarten classes. Curriculum is coordinated with Kindergarten teachers. Children enrolled experience a full day of school including lunch.

Math Olympaid: After school problem solving group for grades 3-5, the practices for the 5 Math Olympiad contests. Practice problems are also available to students as in-class math enrichement, with contest taken during lunch recess.

Literacy Program: Eisenhower's Literacy Program supplements the regular classroom instruction to best meet the reading and writing needs of all students at Eisenhower. The goal of the Literacy Program is to ultimately have children read on grade level. In order to work toward that goal, early assessments and interventions are stressed.

Special Education: Eisenhower's students are supported by the Special Education staff which includes resource teachers, a speech therapist, occupational and motor therapists, and social workers. A school psychologist and other district personnel are available to us as needed.

Student Council: We have a very active student council from raising money for UNICEF to planning and presenting the World Fair, they are a busy bunch!  Wednesdays.  Ms. Bailey and Mrs. Turnquist

YMCA Childcare: The YMCA offers tuition-based before- and after- school programs in our cafeteria.

Events

World Fair: An event run by our student council.  Each continent is represented through a stunning display of artwork and artifacts donated from faimlies of the Eisenhower community.  Travel around the world with us!  Ms. Bailey & The Eisenhower Student Council

Book Fair: This annual fundraiser provides Eisenhower with a percentage of the sales made at a local bookstore during one day. Teachers and the library provide a "wish list" for specific purchases as well.

Fun and Fitness Day: Students participate in a variety of activities in the fall to train their minds and muscles for the upcoming year.  We also have the pleasure of having W.E.B. students from Manhantten Middle School help run the different stations throughout the day.  Mr. Neitenbach  

Fun Run: Each spring the students raise money for our school by running as many laps as they can during a 30 minute time, join us for a great tune up for the Bolder Boulder! Mr. Neitenbach

Geography Bee: Eisenhower participates in the National Geographic Geography Bee, which is open to 4th and 5th graders. The classroom finalists participate in the school Geography Bee, held in December or early January.

International Potluck: An opportunity for families to share the food common to their heritage or loved by their family.

Latino Forums: This is an oppertunity for our Latino community members to come together and discuss all things Eisenhower! 

Musical Productions: The students in various grades perform in grade level science or social studies curriculum-related musicals.

Principal's Reading Club: Students who read, or are read to, for 1,000 minutes in the month of April get a party in may.  Dr. Serns

Science Fair: For grades K - 5, science fair is non-competitive, to encourage students' interest in science, develop inquiry and investigation skills, and enhance pride in completing research projects. Information about Science Fair is sent home with all students in the fall. In January there will be after school help sessions. The Science Fair is held in early February.

Spaghetti Dinner: A delicious, annual fundraiser at which the teachers act as wait staff and the principal is the maitre de for a pasta dinner.

Spelling Bee: An opportunity for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to demonstrate spelling ability at the school level of the National Spelling Bee, held in January or February. The school spelling champion represents Eisenhower at the regional Spelling Bee.

Talent Show: Eisenhower's students showcase their talents in a multitude of areas. Held in March.

Volunteer Tea: The teachers show their appreciation to the multitude of volunteers by hosting an afternoon tea.
