Kohl Elementary

Kohl is a relatively small school of 450 K-5 students.  It was built in 1958 and is part of the Boulder Valley School District.  It is a community school where most of our students walk to school.    Some of the characteristics of our school include...

• Kohl has long been known for their quality staff and strong academic program.  We have seasoned, experienced teaching staff that are willing to go the “extra” that it takes for children to learn.  Our curriculum is based on the State Standards and drives our instructional practices.  Our assessment policies offer regular “snapshots” of student’s performance that determine how we differentiate our instruction so all students can reach their full potential.
  
  
• We are very lucky to have the multi-intensive special education site for Broomfield here at Kohl.  These students are given an individualized program to meet their needs, which includes a strong peer interaction component.  It also offers all Kohl students a unique opportunity to experience students of diverse abilities.
  
  
• We also have strong parent involvement!   Not only do we have a very active PTA and school improvement team called SIT, we have a large amount of parent volunteers who work in the classrooms on a daily basis.  If you are looking for a school that welcomes parents as partners, this is the school for you.
  
  
• Kohl has a traditional calendar with school beginning at the end of August and finishing up the first week of June.   We have many activities throughout the year planned that are both educational and fun for our students and their families. Some highlights are that we have a full day kindergarten program available for students, extended music experiences for fourth and fifth graders and extensive after school opportunities.  Please check our calendar for all the opportunities we provide.
