 Some Key Third Grade Links...

Do you want your student to be better prepared for 3rd Grade.

Here are some items you can work on over the summer.

READING/WRITING

Read independently for at least 15 minutes daily.

Write a response to your reading using complete sentences with capital letters and punctuation.

Read to your child and discuss what has been read.

Review the Performance Targets.  Levels for each grade are listed.  The office has a list of guided reading leveled books available for summer reading at levels G through M.

MATH

Addition/Subtraction Facts.

Two problems a day using borrowing and carrying.

Recognize the value of all coins using real coins and count mixed coins to $1.00.

Tell time to the hour, half hour and quarter hour on a traditional clock (not digital).

OTHER

Discuss how your summer activities relate to the state of Colorado.  (Example:  If you are in Denver, mention that this is the capital city of Colorado and compare/contrast Denver to Broomfield).

Third grade provides a wealth of opportunities for our students to make books their friends!  The mediocre teacher tells.
The good teacher explains.  The superior teacher demonstrates.  The great teacher inspires.
