Bully-Proofing Program
To report issues of Bullying or safety, please do not hesitate to contact the school. You can report anonymously by calling the school at 303-665-2044. You may also contact the school principal at bvsd.sae@bvsd or the school counselor at carl.sanchez@bvsd.org . We also participate in the Safe2Tell program. You can report to this program through their website at www.safe2tell.org or 1-887-542-SAFE (7233).
Our Programs
The staff at Sanchez Elementary School care about the safety and happiness of all children. One of our ongoing goals is to teach skills on treating others kindly and creating a caring community. All staff members will be promoting, teaching, and reinforcing concepts for our Bully-Proofing Program. The programs we use include: Bully-Proofing in Early Childhood (K-1); Bully-Proofing Your School (2-5); Peace Place (K-5); and A World of Difference (K-5).
Bully-Proofing in Early Childhood (K-1)
In this program we stress:
Friendship Skills
Understanding and Managing Feelings
Participating and Contributing to a Caring Community
We also teach students to handle bullies or another student who is not being friendly by:
Talk – Tell the person you don’t like what they are doing and ask them to stop.
Walk – Walk away from the person.
Go for Help – Go to an adult and ask for help
Bully-Proofing Your School (2-5)
In this program we stress Protective Strategies and Participating and Contributing to a Caring Community.
The protective strategies we discuss and role play are:
H – Help
A – Assert Yourself
H – Humor
A – Avoid
S – Self- Talk
O – Own it
Caring Community Strategies include:
C – Creative Problem Solving
A – Adult Help
R – Relate and Join
E – Empathy
Peace Place (all grades)
A BVSD approved curriculum that teaches students to discuss and mediate problems in a safe and caring environment.
World of Difference (all grades)
A BVSD approved curriculum developed by the Anti-Defamation League that stresses issues of equity and fairness.

School Safety
Expected school behaviors are clearly outlined in our Student and Family Handbook and they align with the Sanchez School Promise which was designed by staff and students. Students noted to be upholding the Sanchez Promise are given All Star Awards. One copy is taken home and the other copy is posted for acknowledgement.
