1st Grade Teacher Biographies
Adele Bravo
Adele Bravo was raised in Southern California and moved to Colorado in 1991. She graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in Social Work. She began her teaching career in California and upon moving to Colorado earned a Master’s Degree in Education at Regis University. Adele has been teaching for Boulder Valley School District for 15 years. She has taught at 3 elementary schools and served as a Literacy Coach for 2 years.
In 2006 Adele was awarded the honor of Colorado Teacher of the Year. She spent the year as an ambassador for public education visiting schools all across the state. She was a featured speaker at many events and continues to do presentations as a voice for teachers. During the year Adele also had the opportunity to attend national conventions in Alabama, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and Texas. One of the highlights was going to the White House in Washington D.C. and meeting the President of the United States of America. It was a year of adventure, travel and "once-in-a-lifetime" experiences.
Adele loves to read, write, garden and spend time with her two daughters. She aspires to awaken in her students a love of words, books, numbers, the world, learning . . . a love of life. She hopes to inspire her students just as they inspire her.
Terri Mitchell
Terri Mitchell has been teaching since 1993 and is so excited to now be part of the Sanchez Family. She began her teaching career in Southern California, where she was born and raised, and has been teaching in the Boulder Valley School District since 2001. She received her Masters Degree in Multicultural Education from CU Boulder in December of 2006. In 2007, she became recognized as a National Board Certified Teacher. She believes that you can always learn new things and hopes that her young students will develop a desire to become life-long learners as well. Her favorite things to do with students is to read stories, explore math, creative writing, and help nurture each child's inner passion and joy.When she is not working with students you can see her out riding her bike, walking her dog or cheering on her husband, Jason who is a world class athlete. She enjoys traveling, camping, painting, photography and hanging out with her friends and family! Mrs. Mitchell wants to thank the all students, families, and staff of Sanchez Elementary School for their dedication and commitment to making our school the very best it can be. She believes that Sanchez is a fantastic place to learn and getting better all the time!
