4th Grade Teacher Biographies
Bev Sanders
Bev
began her career out of college as a sports writer for a newspaper in
central California, but after too many late nights, decided that she
wanted to go back to school to become a teacher. She has now been
teaching in Lafayette for 11 years and was the after school coordinator
at Ryan Elementary for 3 years before she began teaching. She has
taught fourth grade at Lafayette Elem. and fifth grade at Pioneer. She
has teaching fifth grade at Sanchez Elementary for 9 years (all with
Grant Swift as her teammate). She has a Masters Degree in Elementary
Education from CU Boulder. Bev retired from coaching after 12 years as
the head volleyball coach at Centaurus High School.
Along
with all the teaching, Bev and her husband, Collins, have three
children. Alex a graduate of Black Hills State in South Dakota - and is
currently working at Sanchez as a Para in Day Treatment, Dillon is
a junior at University of Northern Colorado and is a student assistant
football coach, and Evan is a freshman at Colorado State University and
plays volleyball for the Rams. Collins, is the GM and head coach of the
Colorado ICE arena football team, in Fort Collins. They also have three
dogs: Buddy, Roxy, and Cheyenne.
Bev's
favorite activities include: following her children's sports careers,
reading, hanging out with family and friends, and drinking Starbuck's.
Grant Swift
Grant
began teaching when he was in fourth grade – tutoring his first grade
neighbor for fun. Since then, he has worked in a children’s zoo,
various environmental education roles, the Peace Corps, and, for the
last 20 years, as a teacher at Angevine Middle School and Sanchez.
He holds a Masters degree in Elementary Education, and a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology from CSU.
Grant
and his wife, Lynn, have twin daughters who are freshmen in college.
Lynn is a Plant Ecologist for the City of Boulder’s Open Space and
Mountain Parks.
