V56 Computer Maintenance, Security and Forensics (15 credits)
Curriculum for this one semester course includes instruction in current Microsoft networking applications, security and forensics, other networking and troubleshooting techniques, and basic computer repair. Coursework is provided through lecture, interactive online lessons, texts, videos and extensive hands-on applications. Prerequisite: V57, V61, V62 or instructor permission
V61 Computer Information Systems 1 (15 credits)
Introduction to microcomputer applications, minor computer set ups and installations, the internet, web pages, and operating systems. Students may take Microsoft exams for applications certifications. Students with computer experience may test-out of the introductory series and obtain advanced placement in the CIS department.
V62 Computer Information Systems 2 (15 credits)
Advanced level of training on microcomputer applications, internet, web page design, and beginning programming and operating systems. Advanced coursework in computer set-ups, installations, troubleshooting, servers and networking. Students may take Microsoft exams for applications certifications. Prerequisite: V61, or instructor permission.
V63 Game Design and Software Production (15 or 30 credits)
Advanced coursework in software process modeling, flash game design, xbox360 development, project management and software testing. Students in this course learn the process of application development from writing a vision document to testing the final product. Students who have completed 1 year of this course, 3D animation, and 1 semester of a Game Design Internship qualify for the 2 year pathway certificate. Coursework is provided through lecture, interactive online lessons, texts, videos and extensive hands-on applications.
