Minutes for SIT meeting Aug. 21, 2007

Present: Dr. Brookhart, Molly Nunnery, Stephanie Tschoepe, Bob Abeyta, Kim Porter, Karen Hopley, MaritaReed, Gabriella Ruelas, Jamie Penner.

SIT Business

Minutes:-May '07 meeting. We will review them at the next SIT meeting.

DPC:-Farewell to Dr. Garcia at last meeting, Need Birch DPC rep.

DAC:-reviewed the TIES process. There will be some changes to SIP review process. Need DAC rep.

PTO: Fundraiser kickoff Sept. 7 (Innisbrook) at Ice Cream Social, back to school coffee was successful,

Other:-Child care information handed out. Change of dates for SIT meetings.

Dr. Brookhart updated on the two new school programs, ICAN & Pre-school.

Faculty Presentation on TIES/SIP/SIT connection

TIES Overview by Stephanie Tschoepe & Molly Nunnery. Reviewed the celebrations & challenges of the equity, achievement and organization goals and how Birch is doing. We also looked at major trends happening at Birch in regard to achievement and other factors including our changing population, socioeconomic factors, and gender. Overall Birch has remained stable in a changing environment. Faculty is closing the gender gap in writing, reading and science.
