Kindergarten and K-CARE

Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 30 of the school year. Kindergarten is a half-day program, mornings (8:25 am to 11:10 am) or afternoons (12:00 pm to 2:45 pm), five days a week.

Foothill also offers a fee-based program called K-CARE for the other half of the day. Our Kindergarten and K-CARE teachers coordinate their curriculum creating a truly full-day kindergarten experience. Students are enrolled in K-CARE on a first-come/first serve basis ONLY upon receipt of:

A completed Kindergarten Registration Packet
A K-CARE application form
A non-refundable K-CARE Deposit check.

Kindergarten Open House

The Kindergarten Open House for parents of kindergartners entering in August, 2008, is scheduled for Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. It will take place in the Kindergarten Area (southwest corner of school). You will have the opportunity to meet the Kindergarten and K-CARE teachers, and hear the presentation "What Your Child Can Expect in Kindergarten at Foothill Elementary." The Open Houses are a good time to bring completed registration packets and K-CARE applications.

These Open Houses are for adults only! Reservations are not required.

Kindergarten Playgroups

Each summer, parent volunteers organize playgroups for students who will be in the same kindergarten class in the fall. (Teacher assignments are mailed out earlier than higher grades to facilitate this.) These get-togethers are held in the Kindergarten Playground area, and provide a chance for children to make friends with their classmates before the first day of school.
