Practice reading music using the linked web site. Once on the web site, click the down arrow on trainers, and click note trainer.

Practice with the mouthpiece & barrel everyday. Practice long notes using a mirror. Keep your chin flat and try to get the highest note possible. Also practice tonguing. Use a mirror to make sure your mouth doesn't move. Make sure the pitch or note doesn't change.

Practice E, D, & C in half notes. Make sure your embouchure is the same as it is when your are only playing on the mouthpiece & barrel. Once you can get those notes without squeaking, practice Hot Cross Buns (#16) & Au Claire de la Lune (#17) in your Standards of Excellence Book.

Practice on the head joint everyday. Use a mirror to make sure you're covering 1/3 of the embouchure whole. Try to get long, loud tones. Also practice covering the end. Try to get both the low and high note. Blow downwards to get the low note and upwards to get the high note. Practice tonguing on the head joint. Use a mirror to make sure you don't see any movement in your mouth. Try to get clear, connected tones.

Practice B, A, G in half notes on the flute. Make sure you have good posture and hand position. Look at the pictures in your standard of excellence book to make sure. Once your are getting the notes out, practice Hot Cross Buns.

First practice fingering D, C, & Bb. Double check the fingerings in your book. Go back and forth from D to C many times without playing. Once you're comfortable with the fingerings, try to play the notes. Play D to C back and forth many times. As soon as that feels comfortable, practice Hot Cross Buns (#16) and Au Claire de la Lune (#17) in your Standard of Excellence Book.
