The Boulder Valley School District used the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS) as its framework for Crisis Management. School and district crisis team members and leaders are expected to complete FEMA trainings regarding NIMS and ICS.
Crisis Team Leaders (principals, assistant principals, and other potential Incident Commanders) are expected to successfully complete three independent learning courses:
IS-100.SCa Introduction to the Incident Command System for Schools
IS-362 Multi-Hazard Planning for Schools
IS-700.a NIMS An Introduction
Crisis Team Members (teachers & staff named in the crisis plan) are expected to successfully complete two independent learning courses:
IS-100.SCa Introduction to the Incident Command System for Schools
IS-700.a NIMS An Introduction
Successful completion is attained when the completion certificate is forwarded to the Director of Operations, Security and Environmental Services; please forward the email with the link to the completion certificate to Steve Hoban – steve.hoban@bvsd.org . It is also recommended you save the document for your personal/professional records.
Additional FEMA courses are encouraged.
The school district also conducts periodic trainings for school Leadership, with the expectation that School Leadership passes along necessary information and protocols to their school crisis management teams.
If you need a copy of a certificate, contact the EMI Independent Study Office at (301) 447-1256 or ordered online at: http://www.training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/ansreq.asp |
