Presenter: Deb Trevor, District Manager of Procurement, Food Services Bryce Winton Brown, Founder and Executive Director of the Growe Foundation. Nominated by Ann Cooper, Food Services Director, and Ghita Carroll, Sustainability Coordinator. We are nominating Bryce Winton Brown for Superintendent's Honor Roll for his incredible commitment to BVSD schools through his founding of and leadership at the Growe Foundation. Since launching the Garden to Table program at Creekside Elementary School in 2006, Bryce has brought gardens and related curriculum to 18 of our schools. Bryce is a visionary and BVSD has benefited greatly from his support, expertise and passion for bringing gardens and healthy, organic, local food to our schools. Beyond that, he created a unique school-wide framework to ensure the success of the gardens and full integration of the gardens into the curriculum. His work directly supports the district's sustainability and food services goals, to bring healthy foods to our students and provide students with hands-on outdoor learning opportunities. Bryce has recently announced that he will be returning to New Zealand to help address the health and environmental issues there. He will step down as Executive Director of the Growe Foundation at the end of 2016. Bryce's work over the past ten years has touched tens of thousands of students. We believe the positive impact that Bryce has had on the BVSD community this past decade is truly immeasurable.
