Jessica’s paper entry, The Great Railroad Strike of 1877: A Catalyst for the American Labor Movement, outperformed nearly 100 entries who earned a place at the national level after competing in regional and state contests nationwide. More than half a million students compete in the National History Day contest each year. This year’s theme was Turning Points in History: People, Ideas and Events.
