BVSD Regulation Exhibit JEC-RE-1 on Early Access to kindergarten and first grade for highly advanced children
All application Portfolios are due by April 2, 2012 unless parents can provide proof of moving into the district after April 2, 2012. All applicants will go through a short assessment screening April 4-April 18. Parents need to set up an appointment for this screening when they turn in their application portfolio. Parents will be notified regarding their child advancing or not advancing to the second round of assessment on April 23, 2012. Those parents of children accepted for the second round of assessment will be notified regarding their child's acceptance or denial as Early Access students on May 4, 2012.
2012 Early Access Information Night - March 22, 2012, 5:30-6:30 pm in the Aspen Room at the Education Center, 6500 Arapahoe, Boulder 80303. Spanish interpreters will be available. Please let us know any additional language needs so we can have interpreters, if you wish. People will be available to answer questions and help with portfolios at this time.

2011-2012 Portfolio Information - Please read through the entire webpage below to make sure you have all of the necessary information
The following pieces are required for a complete Early Access Portfolio. Please do not staple or put these items in a notebook. Portfolio contents should be paper clipped together and placed in a manila envelope. A completed Early Access Portfolio includes the following:
1. Early Access Cover Sheet
2. Signed and completed Early Access Portfolio Application document
3. Copy of the child's birth certificate (do not submit an original birth certificate)
4. Home Language Survey
5. Four pieces of student work. Attach one of the Performance Evidence Cover Sheets found at the end of the Portfolio Application Document (see above) to each piece of evidence. Submit no more than four.
6. Completed Parent Survey
7. Pre-school teacher or other adult survey. Give a copy of the survey along with the Pre-Teacher Survey Letter to the person you would like to have fill it out. Once this is completed it must be sent directly by the teacher or other adult to Advanced Academic Services at the address provided below without going through the parent/guardian. Provide contact information in the Portfolio Application as indicated so that we can contact them directly if needed. You are responsible for giving them the survey but you are not responsible for submitting this survey to us.
When your completed portfolio is submitted, you will need to set up an appointment with Advanced Academic Services to bring your child in for a short assessment. See the calendar in the Portfolio Application for details.

Hard copy portfolio packets can be picked up beginning March 1, 2012 during regular office hours and must be turned in by April 2, 2012. If you prefer, you may download the packet information above and turn the hard copies in by April 2, 2012. Please make sure your portfolio is complete before submitting. Incomplete portfolios will not be considered.

For those who move into the district after April 2, 2012 ONLY: Portfolios can be picked up between June 1 and August 1, 2012 during regular office hours and must be turned in by August 1, 2012.
All directions and information are included in the application packet documents. Completed applications must be returned by mail in a manila envelope or returned in person to the location listed above to arrive on or before April 1, 2012 unless parents can provide evidence that they moved into the district after April 1, 2012.
