BVSD uses an Internet filtering tool, Websense (www.websense.com), to fulfill a mandate from state and federal levels titled "Children's Internet Protection Act" (CIPA). As part of the CIPA mandate, schools receiving funding from state and federal programs must enforce Internet safety policies with technology protection measures. Websense offers BVSD the ability to filter websites by category and appropriately to our core curricular, teacher and student needs while also providing a safe environment. In addition, Websense has staff reviewing nearly 50,000 websites a day for classification.
