BVSD Board of Education Results
Congratulations to the four candidates that were elected to the Boulder Valley School District Board of Education on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
Swearing In Ceremony
Our new Board of Education members will be sworn in on December 3, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the BVSD Education Center, which is located at 6500 E. Arapahoe Road in Boulder.
We are grateful to Shelly Benford and Sam Fuqua for their years of service to our Board of Education. Both had served eight years on the Board and were term limited. Thank You.
During the November election, Colorado voters rejected a statewide education-related measure: Colorado Proposition CC - Retain Revenue for Transportation and Education TABOR Measure (2019).
The Board of Education is made up of seven elected volunteers, representing seven geographic areas of our community. This November, four seats are up for election.
Acting together, the Board of Education does the following:
- Acts as a bridge between the community and the school district
- Hires and supervises the superintendent
- Provides the district with high-level guidance/direction
- Creates and revises BVSD’s policies
In Boulder Valley, candidates MUST live in the director district in which they are running; however, they are voted upon by the entire BVSD community.
