FUNDRAISING

Student Fundraising Activities

The Board of Education recognizes there may be some need for students to raise funds to
support school activities. All such related activities are regulated by the School District and must
be:

1. Conducted by a recognized student group for the purpose of contributing to educational
objectives.
2. Appropriate to the age or grade level.
3. Activities in which schools may appropriately engage.
4. Conducted under the supervision of teachers or administrators.
5. Conducted in such a manner and at such times as not to encroach upon instructional
time, interfere with regularly scheduled school classes and activities, or involve
excessive out‐of‐school time.
6. Not unduly demanding on teacher time or work.
7. Evaluated annually by teachers, administrators, and students.
8. Conducted to avoid excessive financial impact on the community.
9. Limited to prevent over‐emphasis on fundraising as a part of the educational program.
10. Voluntary

The application of the above criteria for student sales and activities shall be supervised by the
building principal who shall approve each fundraising activity in advance. The use of a
coordinating committee to review product quality, to avoid duplication, and to prevent
violation of this policy is encouraged.

Student-Initiated and Led Organizations

Student‐initiated and led organizations may engage in fundraising, but the fund‐raising will
not be sponsored by the school or School District. To the extent that student‐initiated and
led organizations desire access to school facilities for fundraising activities they must
arrange for the use of those facilities in accordance with Board policy. During their fundraising activities student‐initiated and led groups may identify themselves as students of their respective schools, but may not represent that they are sponsored, supervised or controlled by their respective schools, nor that they are authorized to extend the credit of their respective schools or school district.

School Sponsored Activities and Athletics

School sponsored organizations, athletics, and activities may have reasonable use of School District facilities and equipment for approved fundraising activities if such use does not create an additional cost to the School District. If additional cost is incurred, the organization, activity, or athletic team shall pay such cost. Only approved fundraising activities for school sponsored organizations, activities, and athletics may identify themselves as acting on behalf of their respective schools. Other groups may not represent that they are sponsored, supervised or controlled by BVSD, its schools, organizations,
activities, or teams.
