OPERATION OF CHILD-CARE AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

The Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent or designee to operate child-care and enrichment programs using District facilities to support access to instructional programs for students, families, staff, and community.

For child-care programs with a nexus to instruction (e.g. before and after school care, school days off), the School District shall be the exclusive provider. Enrollment will be open to children on a space available basis, with priority given to children attending the school at which the child-care center is operated. Schools are not authorized to permit non-School District entities to operate child-care centers.

The Board of Education authorizes the Superintendent or designee to offer enrichment programs (e.g. Lifelong Learning), including those provided for a reasonable fee, throughout the year to students, families, staff, and adults throughout the Boulder Valley community. To the extent determined appropriate by the Superintendent or designee, non-BVSD entities may be approved to operate enrichment programs using District facilities pursuant to this policy and accompanying regulation.

The Board of Education directs the District to assure child-care and enrichment programs provide equitable access to students, including by providing financial assistance to eligible children and families.
