Middle schoolers need independence - and guidance. As emerging teens increasingly use technology for school, friendships, and entertainment, many struggle to balance screen time with real-life responsibilities, which can lead to family conflict, academic difficulties, and mental-health challenges. The Tech Wise Family workshop, led by digital media treatment expert Tracy Markle, MA, LPC, and Beth Bonfiglio, LMFT offers a practical two-part format:
Part 1: Educational session on teen development, brain science, barriers to success, and key communication and boundary guidelines
Part 2: Interactive breakout work where families (student attendance optional) create a Tech Wise Family Agreement with healthy daily limits, clear screen-free zones and times, and appropriate consequences to strengthen relationships and support wellness.
