14 BVSD schools receive awards from the Colorado Department of Education

State also celebrates Bear Creek Elementary School’s National Blue Ribbon Award

DENVER - The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) recently celebrated the 2017 district and school performance results in an awards ceremony. During the event held on March 1 at the Denver Art Museum, Colorado Education Commissioner Dr. Katy Anthes honored 15 Boulder Valley School District schools in four award categories.

2017 Blue Ribbon School
CDE recognized the five Colorado schools that earned the National Blue Ribbon Award, including Boulder’s Bear Creek Elementary.

The prestigious award, given annually by the U. S. Department of Education, honors great American schools that demonstrate that all students can achieve to high levels. More than 8,500 schools across the country have been presented with this coveted award, which affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. Read More... 


Governor’s Distinguished Improvement
The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Awards are given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools "exceed" expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth and "meet or exceed" expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps. Read More…
