The Colorado Department of Education recently announced its annual awards for 2023 and 2024 and 28 Boulder Valley schools were among those honored. BVSD was also the only Denver Metro school district to be Accredited with Distinction in 2024. This represents the highest ranking from the Colorado Department of Education, signifying excellence in education.
Earning this accreditation rating represents the growth and achievement of all students in our district, and is only possible when as many students as possible participate in state assessments. This accreditation rating not only improves the reputation of the district, but assists greatly recruitment, staffing, enrollment efforts districtwide.
Six BVSD schools received the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award in 2023 and ten received it in 2024. This award celebrates schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools "exceed" expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth and "meet or exceed" expectations on the indicator related to academic growth gaps.

19 BVSD schools received the John Irwin Award in 2023 and 22 received it in 2024. This award is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time. These schools received an Exceeds Expectations rating on the Academic Achievement indicator of the School Performance Frameworks reflecting exceptional performance in Math, English Language Arts, and Science.

Three BVSD High Schools also received the High School Growth Award in 2023 and in 2024. This award recognizes high schools that "demonstrate the highest levels of students’ academic growth in reading writing and math."
